Registration Of Death

The legal requirement is to register the death within five days and you will be given a death Certificate.

This needs to take place with the local council. Once you have the MCCD (regardless if it has been given to you by the GP or the hospital), take this and your ID to the Council Registry Office to obtain the green form/burial order so that the burial can take place.

Here, you will also register the death.

Autopsy

A coroner will decide if one is needed. You can / should ask for a digital post-mortem. Here the body is scanned to ascertain the cause of death as opposed to being cut open. This digital process is also faster so it can help facilitate a speedy burial but has to be paid for privately and is not always available.
